Beano HistoryIntroduction The very first edition of the Beano was dated 30th July 1938 and its front cover starred "Big Eggo" and came with a free "Whoope Mask". It was a weekly comic, out every Tuesday. Beano is published by D.C. Thomson & Co Ltd. a Scottish based company founded in 1905 which produces many other publications including newspapers like The Courier as well as other comics, most famously The Dandy. The Beano is still publisher today, with over 3,400 issues as of January 2009. Famous Characters The Beano has featured a whole host of characters over the years, a good reference can be found on this page on Lollipop Animation's web site. The most famous characters include Dennis the Menance (and his dog Gnasher), Roger the Doger, Minnie the Minx and The Bash Street Kids. Find out about the Beano Today
